ABOUT THE FOUNDER

David V. James is the Founder and President of J.A. Urban Inc., a Southern California-based general contracting firm certified as an 8(a) and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business. With over two decades of experience in the construction industry, Mr. James leads the firm with a focus on precision, accountability, and client-centered delivery.

Following eight years of decorated military service, Mr. James transitioned into construction management and advanced through roles ranging from Construction Administrator to executive leadership. His experience spans a wide range of project types and delivery methods, including public works, healthcare, education, commercial, and tenant improvements—ranging from minor renovations to multimillion-dollar developments.

 

 

As the day-to-day leader of J.A. Urban Inc., Mr. James remains directly involved in all aspects of project execution, from preconstruction planning to final delivery. His approach emphasizes thorough coordination, transparent communication, and unwavering quality, ensuring that every project reflects the standards on which the firm was founded.

Mr. James holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Leadership from Brandman University and an Associate of Science in Construction Management.
